How 'Bout Them Apples? Shabby Apple!

If you've never heard of Shabby Apple, you should get to Googling. Or, you know, just click the icon in my sidebar.

What do I like about Shabby Apple? Dresses with a vintage twist, darling skirts that make a lady feel like twirling, and a certain Rosie the Riveter vibe present in every piece they design. This classy company run by women makes women beautiful in its gorgeous clothing; they're self-described "feminine feminists." I love that.

There's something very appealing to me about being a girly-girl - wearing makeup, dressing nicely, and all of that - but sometimes it's difficult to be taken seriously if you care too much about your appearance. Shabby Apple's apparel (think sweet pencil skirts in pastel shades and conservative blouses with pretty details, a la Zooey Deschanel) let young professional women like me to show off their feminine sides while still looking the part in the workplace.

For more information, check out the Shabby Apple website - it's full of affordable clothing, jewelry, accessories, and more!

Absence makes the heart grow fonder

Hi to everyone!

I've been absent from my blog for about a month now (in case you hadn't noticed) and honestly haven't had time to write! I've been trying to spend time with all of my friends and family on top of moving out of my apartment, preparing to move in to my new one (which I had to search for with my mom when we went to Madison at the beginning of the month, and trust me, it wasn't easy!), and finding cheap furniture because I didn't really have much stuff. It has truly been one of the busiest months of my life.

Anyway, I've had plenty to write about but little time to share it. My new job starts next week, and hopefully once I've had some time to adjust I'll get back to blogging.

Love you all!

One girl's trash is another girl's treasure

My sisters always seem to find the prettiest jewelry pieces.

The other day I was hanging around my sister Melanie's house and she offered me a couple of necklaces she no longer wears.

I love making "old" things my "new" things. You know, taking a piece that a friend or family member doesn't want anymore and finding a cute way to fit it into my wardrobe.

That cropped Aztec print shirt I love so much just so happens to match one of the necklaces Melanie gave me perfectly. The beads match the colors of the top and the "feel" of the two items go well together.

Do you like making old things new?

The ultimate statement piece: the J. Crew bubble necklace

At long last, this beauty arrived in the mail this morning! I ordered it off of eBay and saved an ungodly amount of money compared to the in-store price.

Were you half as obsessed as I was when I saw this gorgeous thing floating around the Pinterest ether?

This necklace is an outfit-maker. I recommend wearing it alone without other accessories--give it all of the attention it deserves!

I paired it with a simple black tank from Forever 21, shorts from the Gap outlet, and Steve Madden wedges. What do you think?

My life in pictures

Well, I finally moved into the current century and got an iPhone! Is my life about to get significantly easier? :) That's what I've heard, anyway. Speaking of iPhones, I'm actually writing this blog post on my iPhone right NOW. Love it.

I'm thinking that I might begin transitioning this blog into more than just a personal style blog. I still want that to be a big part of it, but now that I know I'll be moving to Madison, Wisconsin, I think I'd like to use my blog as a way to share my experiences. I mean, I'm moving to a new city--well, a totally new region of the country, actually--where I will know practically no one. I'm going to be learning how to live in freezing cold weather (with real snow, not just a couple of inches once or twice a year). I'm going to explore new restaurants and venues and maybe a new way of life. I want to take lots of pictures and share my journey with you all. That is, if you're interested. So let me know.

I don't have an outfit post today (sorry, I've been wearing mostly tee shirts the last couple of days), but I do have some photos for you to recap my last couple of days. I've been spending time with my family, my friends, my boyfriend, and frolicking around clothing stores with my sister...and relaxing. Lots of that.

I'm going to figure this iPhone thing out as I go! If you've got any tips, feel free to share them with me :)
